After I try this, everything is black, and nothing works (not even the mouse). I have updated many bios's during my time, but did not know there was such a thing as 64 or 32 bit bios (or have I misunderstood). Everything on the desktop loads up in less than 5s.

Loaded the bios screen, but pressing F2, F12 or letting it go further just made a black screen appear with a flashing cursor.I unplugged my printer & presto, it started up. This has nothing to with getting a black screen in Windows, as sometimes you have not even installed Windows yet. If Off displays under the Volumes section, BitLocker is turned off.
