Windows 7 will recognise SATA devices without the need for additional drivers, you just can't change between IDE/AHCI once the OS is installed. Missing Hard Drive Windows 10 I believe this is a ATA-6 model. and NO other devices allowed. If there is only data on it, you will get the drive seen, but will get the 'non-system disk' error unless you boot up with a bootdisk to the A: prompt
