All of a sudden, Microsoft sees themselves with competition that had not been seen in a decade, and starts rapidly trying to upgrade the dying browser. I have ZoneAlarm Firewall on my computers and using the ability to block programs i block utterly IE from getting on the net. permalinkembedsaveparentgive gold[+][deleted] 3 years ago(1 child)[deleted] [–]balloftape 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago(0 children)Huh?

For a while both Netscape and Explorer had code written by Andreesen. It used to be truly horrible. permalinkembedsaveparentgive gold[–]zazathebassist 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago(0 children)I know it has been said, but I am going to put it into a simple timeline. Netscape was the most popular at the time. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/32372/htg-explains-why-do-so-many-geeks-hate-internet-explorer/

What's So Bad About Internet Explorer

I've been online pretty religiously since '95, and I feel pretty safe in saying that there was no time in history where IE was the best browser available (and I'm not The fact that IE9 doesn't support so many things is still important. I actually strongly feel that IE does best with youtube. permalinkembedsave[–]Slaves2Darkness 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago(0 children)Because upgrading from one browser version of IE to a higher version of IE causes your Javascript to break.

Is that even legal? Thanks! Before posting Make sure to read the rules. What Is Wrong With Internet Explorer Today In the very early days of OS X, OS 9 was actually better in many ways (performance, features, 3rd party app availability).

Another reason is its slower than other browsers and after a while it starts to use up alot of RAM/Virtual Memory compared to what other browsers can do. or uninstall IE, it will roll back to the last version. Before the internet Microsoft had a near 100% lock on non-mainframe computing. (I'm lumping unix into the mainframe here) For most people, computers == Microsoft. I mean, yeah.

I admittedly haven't used it in years so I don't know if it's gotten better, though I have heard it's no longer nearly as slow in comparison now. What Is Wrong With Internet Explorer 11 IE is still Chome Installer 11™ to me. And then there are new versions every 5 minutes. permalinkembedsavegive gold[–]PhilipT97 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago(0 children)IE still doesn't follow standards.

Why You Shouldn't Use Internet Explorer

People who know a little bit about computers hate IE. The browser component was used to make Phoenix, which became Firebird, which had its name changed to Firefox. It's a whole new world, and Chrome, rather than IE, is the target. Yes No Sorry, something has gone wrong. Non-IE browsers will ignore this. Their HTML was littered with this sort of belt-and-suspenders code.  It was time-consuming, error prone, and ugly.  Coders hate ugly.  And they hate wasting Why hasn't Microsoft changed it? Does Anyone Still Use Internet Explorer

It (and Opera) currently run on Blink, which is a fork of Webkit. Geeks don’t hate something that’s inferior—but they do hate it when it’s forced on them. The Netscape communicator suite saw revisions up through 4.7 or something, but Navigator itself stopped at 4.08, if I recall correctly. We still are finding issues with people not wanting to upgrade now from Win7.

November 14, 2014 Why Is Internet Explorer Slow When a customer orders a new webpage they want all the usual cool things you can do now with all the new technologies: animations, paralax effect, 3D and what not, but I don't know if IE became better nowadays (I have never actually used it anyway).

Um, because they could.  From almost the beginning of web development time (c. 1995) browser wars have raged as the warring factions (Netscape, Microsoft initially) battled it out for market dominance.

market share going to IE along with a big fat antitrust lawsuit for their efforts (topic for another day).  Microsoft had truly innovated its way to the top of the browser Perhaps instead of hating on IE for forcing you to be up to date and secure in your coding, You need to be up to date and secure in your coding!!! Many of us will remember having to run malware software on top of an anti-virus program on their PCs. Reasons To Use Internet Explorer The end result was a huge court case that nearly resulted in the breakup of Microsoft.

CSS is the designers primary tool for defining the stylistic elements of a website:  Layout, positioning, spacing, alignment, size, color, font, etc.  But for CSS to work its magic properly, all Bill and Steve put the full force of Microsoft into killing netscape. It's gotten a lot better in recent years, so much of the deep hatred today stems from bitter memories. YMMV.

IE is the salt that comes pre-packed when you purchase the shaker.
