Press Win+R to call Run box. I also tried disabling all services not necessary with a selective startup through msconfig as previously mentioned. It's gone nutty. The problem started after my last Windows update.

At the same time the system suddenly lost the speakerphone and replaced it with some generic device driver. If you're not using a wireless trackpad, perhaps someone else has a wireless trackpad that your machine has somehow connected to. I had to go back and delete those registry entries to get my CPU to stop being pegged at 100%.
