I was able to get around it following the instructions above PLUS this: change ProductName and EditionID respectively to "Windows 8.1 Professional" and to "Professional" in this registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion However, you should be able to use the activation key from an OEM copy of Windows Ultimate that you purchase. you do need to run 8.1 installation again after the registry tweaks, correct?ReplyDeleteRepliesHenk HoogendoornJune 22, 2015 at 4:34 PMA downgrade to Professional is not possible default.
